The Ooltewah Club is the new name of the private golf course previously known as The Champions Club. The rebrand marks the completion of a more than $1 million renovation.
Overseen by Bobby Cupp, Jr., upgrades include new TifEagle Bermuda grass on all 18 holes, rebuilt and recontoured bunkers, new tee complexes, irrigation repairs and enhancements and cart path repairs and rerouting.
The club also purchased new maintenance equipment, new range balls, new golf carts, a new beverage cart and new practice facility amenities.
In addition, Christopher Owen has joined the club as its new superintendent. Owen formerly served as the senior assistant superintendent at The Governors Club in Brentwood.
After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in plant and soil science, Owen spent four years at The Golf Club of Georgia as the assistant superintendent before moving to the Frederica Golf Club and later the Richland Country Club.
Owen also has more than 10 years of experience with tournament preparation.
